Background

The Africa Impact Academy (AIA) is a 10-month program that equips African social enterprises and NGOs with the strategies, mentorship, and networks to grow and scale. AIA builds the capacity of organizations in five critical areas: business strategy, marketing, finance, technology, and governance, preparing them to become investor-ready.

To showcase the Academy’s transformative work, AIA will produce a professional documentary highlighting the stories of entrepreneurs in Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa. This film will serve as both a storytelling tool and a positioning asset for AIA as Africa’s trusted pipeline for investor-ready ventures.

Scope of Work

We are seeking a Nairobi-based videography/production firm with demonstrated capacity to deliver high-quality documentaries and the ability to subcontract professional crews in Abuja (Nigeria) and Johannesburg (South Africa).

The selected firm will:

  1. Pre-production
    • Review the final documentary script and production treatment (already developed).
    • Develop a creative treatment outlining proposed visual style, storytelling approach, and production plan.
    • Break down a detailed shooting schedule across Nairobi, Abuja, and Johannesburg (with subcontracted crews)within the days that Mofund Africa provides.
  2. Production
    • Film all assigned scenes in Nairobi.
    • Coordinate with subcontracted crews in Abuja and Johannesburg to capture required footage, ensuring quality and consistency across locations.
    • Capture interviews, B-roll, training sessions, and community impact visuals as per the production treatment.
    • Collect all footage for editing in Nairobi
  3. Post-production
    • Edit a 10 – 15 minute documentary aligned to the script and treatment.
    • Deliver additional short social media cuts (30 and 90 seconds).
    • Integrate professional voiceover, motion graphics (icons, titles, maps), subtitles, and partner logos.

Deliverables

  • 1 full-length documentary (5 – 6 minutes) in HD/4K.
  • 2 short social media cuts (30 and 60 seconds each).
  • Final masters delivered in MP4 (HD and 4K).
  • Raw footage handed over to MoFund Africa.

Duration

The documentary must be filmed and fully edited between late September and the end of October 2025, with delivery of the final product no later than 30th October 2025.

Requirements

  • Based in Nairobi, Kenya.
  • Demonstrated capacity to subcontract professional film crews in Abuja and Johannesburg.
  • Proven track record in documentary production (portfolio/reel required).
  • Experience in storytelling with social enterprises, NGOs, or impact-driven projects preferred.
  • Strong creative and technical capabilities (cinematography, editing, motion graphics, sound design).

Submission of Proposals

Interested videographers/production houses should submit:

  1. Creative proposal (approach, style, and storytelling concept).
  2. Financial proposal (detailed budget breakdown).
  3. Company/individual profile, including links to previous work.
  4. Details of subcontracting partners in Abuja and Johannesburg.
  5. Team bios of key personnel.

Evaluation Criteria

Proposals will be evaluated based on:

  • Creativity and alignment with script/treatment (30%)
  • Technical quality and past portfolio (30%)
  • Feasibility of execution in all three locations (20%)
  • Financial competitiveness (20%)
