Job Overview

The Community Manager will be pivotal in managing the social enterprises and non-profits within the Africa Impact Academy. This role involves nurturing relationships, boosting engagement, and ensuring the success of our community members by providing the necessary support and resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Community Engagement: Design and implement strategies to cultivate a robust, supportive community among the social enterprises and non-profits within the Africa Impact Academy.
  • Communication: Act as the main point of contact for community members, addressing their needs and facilitating effective communication. Providing progressively relevant information to all the program participants
  • Program Management: Oversee the execution of community programs, workshops, and events aimed at building capacity and enhancing the impact of community members.
  • Content Creation: Develop and manage content for community platforms, including newsletters, social media, and forums to keep members informed and engaged.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Gather and analyze data to assess community needs, measure engagement, and track the impact of community initiatives.
  • Partnership Development: Forge and maintain partnerships with relevant stakeholders, including grant makers, philanthropists, government agencies, and private sector partners.
  • Feedback and Improvement: Continuously collect feedback from community members to improve services and support mechanisms.
  • Manage schedules in the physical, virtual and the LMS platforms that the program utilizes including those of facilitators involved.

  •  Communication Skills: Understands the art of communication, what to communicate, how, when, and to whom. Demonstrated skills in previous work experience communicating to multiple types of stakeholders through multiple channels and ability to track feedback and respond accordingly. 
  • Leadership and Initiative: Demonstrated ability to lead community initiatives and proactively address challenges. Being self driven and creating solutions through the guidance of the organization’s goal and assignment mission. Supporting partners and team members in the process.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently. Ability to handle issues that seem disjointed but are part of the process without losing the goal or derailing others in the process.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in collecting and analyzing data to inform decision-making and improve community programs. Ideally creating and using tools that help in analysis of information, and making logical deductions that help the program team and partners learn and understand the processes.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Building and  maintaining relationships with community members, stakeholders, partners, and colleagues. Ability to connect, self express yet create space to hear others out and jointly carry out tasks. Ability to interact in public and in corporate settings with clarity of purpose and vision.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with community management platforms, social media tools, LMS platforms and basic data analysis software.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Communication, Business Administration, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 7 years of experience in community management, program coordination, or a related role.
  3. Demonstrated Experience working with nonprofits, social enterprises, or in a capacity-building role is preferred.
  4. Knowledge of the African non-profit and social enterprise landscape.
