At MoFund Africa, our mission is to empower African non-profits in Health, Agrifood, Education, Energy and Economic empowerment initiatives. We aim to strengthen their internal capacities, brand, structure, business model, and fundraising strategies so they can amplify their impact. We believe in channeling support from African philanthropists and grant makers to local solutions they are familiar with, fostering a sense of ownership and service. The words of Lily Tomlin, “I always wondered why somebody doesn’t do something about that. Then I realized I was somebody,” resonate deeply with us. We realized that we had the power to make a difference, and we were determined to do something about the challenges faced by African non-profits and social enterprises.

We recognize the immense potential of African Non-profits and social enterprises and the critical challenges they face in securing adequate funding. Despite the global philanthropy ecosystem being valued at 4 trillion USD, African non-profits receive only a minuscule 0.2% of these funds directly. To address this disparity, we have developed a comprehensive, four-step process to engage donors and Non-profits and social enterprises effectively:
