Job Overview

As a Communications Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting various aspects of communication and organizational development within MoFund Africa. Your main responsibilities will revolve around managing partnerships and client data, enhancing community engagement, and supporting the creation and dissemination of communication content.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Partnerships and Client Data Management:
  • Assist in maintaining and expanding our network of partners and organizations.
  • Stay informed about trends in our partner network and industry, providing insights on relevant reports.
  • Collaborate with our Comms and PR service provider to organize and document donor and network partner interactions according to the communications strategy.
  1. Manage the Partner Network:
  • Stay abreast of relevant activities and events within our sector.
  • Identify opportunities for the organization to participate or contribute to ongoing mission aligned initiatives.
  • Assist in monitoring key performance indicators to gauge the impact of our programs.
  • Schedule sessions, communicate with participants and guests, send invitations, and follow up after sessions.
  1. Support Design of Communication Content and Materials:
  • Collaborate with the comms and PR team to curate content for external communication and monthly updates.
  • Measure digital presence growth across social media, blogs, mainstream media subscriptions, and our website.
  • Maintain and update the organization’s website with current and relevant information, activity updates, and news.
  1. Research and Proposal Curation:
  • Contribute to the creation of compelling proposals that align with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with team members to gather necessary information for proposal development.
  • Systematically document and summarize information for use by the fundraising team.

Key Competencies

  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively engage with diverse community members. French language is a big plus.
  • Leadership and Initiative: Ability to lead community initiatives and take proactive steps to address challenges and opportunities.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently.
  • Analytical Skills:  Competence in collecting and analyzing data to inform decision-making and improve community programs.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with community members and stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Creative and strategic thinking to address community challenges and enhance engagement.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with community management platforms, social media tools, and basic data analysis software, basic graphic designing.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Communication, Business Administration, International Relations, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in community management, communications officer, programs or a related role.
  3. Experience working with nonprofits, social enterprises, or in a capacity-building role is preferred.
  4. Knowledge of the African non-profit and social enterprise landscape is an advantage.
